Description

One of Austria’s finest Chardonnays! Year after year, this white wine ranks amongst the country’s very best and is highly praised by critics both at home and abroad. And quite rightly so, in our opinion!

The Katterstein vineyard was first mentioned in documents as far back as 1570! The south-east-facing vineyard is framed by the forests of the Leitha Mountains and is perfectly suited to Chardonnay vines growing on its calcareous slate soil. Matured in small French oak barrels, the wine is certainly still very young, but nevertheless already very drinkable.

Every sip is intense and incredibly complex. Just as in Burgundy, the grape variety takes a back seat here, allowing the terroir of this vineyard to shine through. Yeast, brioche, delicate, subtle oak with ripe yellow fruits. Pure minerality! Finely structured and balanced right through to the endlessly long finish. A truly magnificent experience on the palate! Enormous ageing potential of 20 years and more.

A wine for contemplation and for life’s very special moments.
