Description

Some wines immediately make you understand why they enjoy such a worldwide reputation. Brunello belongs firmly in this category, and once you discover it, it is hard to let go of this style. The 2019 from Corte Pavone demonstrates this impressively: serious, classic, and with enormous potential for development.

In the glass, this Brunello shows a bright ruby red colour with the first garnet reflections. The nose is initially somewhat reserved, then gradually opens with clear aromas of cherries, plums, and dark berries, accompanied by fine tobacco notes and a cool spiciness. On the palate, it is juicy and precise, supported by a lively acidity that gives the wine freshness and drive. The tannins are clearly noticeable, robust and well structured, just as you would expect from a classic Brunello. Nothing feels overloaded; everything is shaped for balance and longevity.

The grapes come from high altitude vineyards around Montalcino, where mild winters, a rather cool spring, and a consistently warm summer provide ideal conditions. Despite the heat in August, the ripening process remained steady thanks to good water reserves, and some rain in September added extra freshness. The grapes were harvested at the end of September in ideal conditions.

A Brunello that can easily be cellared for a few more years. With time, it will gain depth and elegance and reveal its full potential. Excellent with game dishes, braised beef, or simply on an occasion when a wine can be more than just an accompaniment.
