Description

These are often the wines that bring the most pleasure in everyday life. Uncomplicated, yet far from banal, and that is exactly why you find yourself reaching for a second glass sooner than expected. This Rosso shows just how much character and depth can be achieved even below the Brunello level.

In the glass, it shines in a deep ruby red. The nose is immediately expressive, with plenty of red fruit, cherry and berries, along with the typical herbal spice known from Sangiovese from Montalcino. Subtle toasted notes from the wood add further depth without dominating. On the palate, it is juicy and powerful, with good structure and pleasantly ripe, soft tannins. The acidity provides freshness and balance, making the wine remarkably easy to drink.

The 2023 vintage was far from easy. A cool, wet start to the year required great care in the vineyard. From July onward, warm and stable conditions allowed the grapes to ripen well, although hail in August reduced yields in some areas. The harvest, which took place between early September and early October, produced concentrated, juicy grapes with plenty of fruit and freshness, exactly what you hope for in a very good Rosso.

If you want to discover the style of Sangiovese from Montalcino, there is no need to start with Brunello. This Rosso offers excellent value for money and clearly shows why the region enjoys such a legendary reputation. Perfect with pasta with ragù, pizza, grilled dishes, or simply on its own.
