Description
The "Alte Setzen" vineyard is a classified south-east facing slope with deep, warm loess soil that provides ideal conditions for high-quality grapes. The vines, more than 60 years old, ensure unique fruit for this Grüner Veltliner. This quality is also reflected in the awards that this outstanding value-for-money wine has received. Whether Falstaff, A la Carte or Wine Enthusiast, all agree with 93 to 95 points that this is a great wine, as if cast from a single mould.
It matured partly in steel tanks and partly in large acacia barrels. The nose is marked by tobacco spice, supported by yellow apple and a hint of tropical fruit. Juicy and complex on the palate, with a sweet extract core. Notes of honeydew melon and an elegant style accompany the wine into a lingering finish. It offers clear development potential and is especially recommended with Indian and Asian dishes. Wonderful to drink now and suitable for cellaring for many years.
