Cantina Girlan Marna Chardonnay 2024, 0,75 L

Chardonnay from Girlan is always a highlight, as the winery specialises in Burgundy varieties. This is perfectly demonstrated in the attractively priced Marna Chardonnay, which showcases the versatility of South Tyrolean Chardonnay in the glass. The nose reveals delicate fruit aromas with a lively freshness, while the palate impresses with a clear structure, juicy texture, and an elegant balance of fruit and minerality.

The grapes are sourced from selected vineyards in the Überetsch region, at altitudes of 350 to 450 metres. The barren gravel and clay soils, enriched with limestone deposits, give the wine its name, Marna. After hand-harvesting, the grapes are gently pressed, with 40% of the wine matured in stainless steel and 60% in large wooden barrels. Part of the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation. It then matures for seven months on fine lees before achieving harmony in the bottle.

A South Tyrolean white with both freshness and substance, it pairs beautifully with vegetarian starters, fine fish dishes, or white meat. Equally enjoyable on its own from a large glass, it is a wine to savour.
