Description

The PIWI (fungus-resistant) varieties are on increasing in popularity. Cabernet Blanc is such a varietal that has been authorised as a quality wine in Austria since last year. It is an interspecific cross between Cabernet Sauvignon and resistance partners and was first bread in Switzerland in 1991.

In addition to the PIWI varietals Muscaris and Souvignier Gris, Josef Scharl has also dedicated himself to the Cabernet Blanc varietal for the past two years and was winner of the 2020 wine competition right away!

The dry white wine is somewhat light and fruity and can resemble a Sauvignon Blanc or Riesling. It was classically matured in steel tanks and has notes of gooseberries and currants. A hint of spice and taut with pleasant acidity. Juicy on the palate and truly a pleasure to drink!
