Kollwentz Ried Gloria Chardonnay Magnum 2023, 1,50 L

One of the best, if not the best, Chardonnays in Austria! GLORIA consistently ranks among the country's top wines every year and is universally praised by national and international critics. The current new 2023 vintage was awarded 99 points and named Austria's "Wine of the Year" by international wine critic James Suckling, marking it as the best wine in the country!

The south-easterly Gloria site was first documented back in 1570 and is framed by the Leithagebirge forest. It is perfectly suited for Chardonnay vines, which thrive here on the very chalky brown earth. Aged and matured in small French oak barrels, the wine is certainly still very young, yet already approachable.

Every sip is intense and enormously complex. As in Burgundy, the grape variety takes a back seat here, allowing the terroir of this site to shine. Expect notes of yeast, brioche, delicate, finely structured oak, and ripe yellow fruit. Pure minerality, finely structured and beautifully balanced right through to the exquisitely long finish. This is truly magnificent on the palate. It has a huge ageing potential of 20 years or more.
