Description

The Albariño grape varietal is now one of our favourites. It's multi-layered and can cover pretty much the entire spectrum from light and tangy to very complex and well-maturing wines. The character is super independent and the wines are very versatile.

La Casa de las Locas belongs to the top Peñafiel winery in Ribera del Duero, so the demands on the wine are correspondingly high.

Even in the nose, you can tell that this is a very mature wine.

A lot of light-coloured fruit such as pear or white peach, with hints of citrus fruits. Really powerful on the palate, very classy, tangy acidity that immediately makes your mouth water. A hint of tangerine, some rocky minerality. It is quite complex, but still a lot of fun. In any case, this bottle did not survive the tasting.

Origin often suggests the best accompaniments and this wine goes well with seafood or rice dishes i.e. paella. Spanish whites don't really get any better.
