Montirius Vacqueyras "Mineral" Blanc Côtes du Rhône AOP 2022 Biodyn, 0,75 L

This cuvée, composed of 50% Bourboulenc, 25% Grenache Blanc, and 25% Roussanne, will quickly convert you into a fan of complex white wines from the Rhône. Unlike many heavy white Châteauneuf-du-Pape wines, this one is aged solely in concrete tanks, lending it a marvellous lightness rarely found in the region.

The vines thrive in stony alluvial soils with layers of blue clay marl and yellow sandstone, providing ideal conditions for a wine with a distinctly mineral character.

In the glass, this golden wine presents an almost oily consistency. It exudes an intense aroma of light-coloured flowers and honey, complemented by a fine herbal spice. On the palate, it is extremely balanced—powerful yet fresh—with vibrant acidity that enhances the wine's overall profile. Flavours of pear, apple, and a touch of honey are interwoven with mineral and salty notes, leading to a complex and engaging experience. The finish is long, with additional mineral and salty nuances and hints of honey.

This is a white wine that stands out from the mainstream and is a pleasure to drink. It’s a great example of why it’s worth thinking outside the box.
