Muralia Muralia 2023 IGT Toscana, 0,75 L

Wines from the Maremma, apart from Morellino di Scansano, are enjoying growing popularity. No wonder, as you can still get excellent value for money here at the moment. A perfect example of this is this Muralia IGT Rosso, named after the winery itself and, for the price, almost too good to be true: the estate’s top wine.

For us, Muralia is above all synonymous with unusually elegant wines, the sort you wouldn’t necessarily expect from this warm region. Nevertheless, the wine is certainly brimming with power and already appears deep red and dark in the glass. On the nose, typical red berries, a hint of herbal spice and plenty of blackcurrant, along with a touch of tobacco and leather. The oak from the long ageing in barriques is beautifully integrated – not too dominant, but enough to lend additional aroma.

On the palate, it is very juicy and full-bodied, with ripe tannins that feel round and elegant. A lovely, robust acidity gives the wine the necessary freshness, makes your mouth water and literally begs for the next sip.

An exciting wine from Tuscany, of exceptionally high quality, which effortlessly accompanies any Bistecca Fiorentina and remains a delight for at least one more bottle afterwards. A great discovery that’s far from being ‘too powerful to handle’!
