Description
Souvignier Gris is a white wine variety with very high resistance to fungal diseases (PIWI), which was first bred in Germany in 1983 from Sauvignon Blanc and Bronner.
This (as yet) very rare variety, which has excellent ageing potential, is found mainly in Southern Styria. This dry wine, matured in stainless steel tanks, immediately impressed us at the tasting. Aromas of stone fruit with a hint of exotic notes come across as crisp, robust and full-bodied on the palate. The finish is slightly nutty, well supported by the typical, lively acidity of Southern Styria.
A fine accompaniment to many hearty dishes and a surprise hit at blind tastings.
