Description
It's no longer a secret that great Rieslings thrive on the Leithaberg. We were absolutely delighted with this wine during the tasting. Leo Sommer brings pure craftsmanship into every bottle.
These Riesling vines grow on barren slate. This characterises the wine. After selective hand-picking and a 24-hour maceration, it was matured for 10 months in large wooden barrels and then bottled unfiltered.
After a little air in the glass, the wine captivates with a distinctive apricot scent paired with delicate herbs. Dry on the palate (3g residual sugar) accessible & stimulating. An honest wine without frills, which is powerful and has a great interplay of fruit and acid. Typical of the varietal and with a long-lasting finish that characterises a wine with great storage potential.
A great alternative to the Lower Austrian Rieslings and worth every penny. Wonderful on its own after a meal or with hearty fish and vegetarian dishes.
