Description
The Collio region in Friuli can rightly be called the cradle of Italian white wines. Unlike much of Italy, this area is dominated by white grape varieties, shaped by gentle hills and its proximity to the Slovenian border, which leave their mark on both style and varietal character.
Here, Sauvignon Blanc—known simply as Sauvignon—has a distinctive identity that should not be underestimated. Tenuta Villanova presents a particularly ripe and expressive interpretation: on the nose, it begins cautiously with notes of cassis and a touch of paprika, while on the palate it unfolds with power, freshness, and taut acidity. Already a joy to drink, it also has fine ageing potential. Best enjoyed from a slightly larger glass and not too cold, to allow its full complexity to emerge.
Paired with regional cuisine, this is a characterful Collio Sauvignon that need not hide behind the great white wines of more famous regions.
