Ernst Triebaumer ushered in a new era of Austrian red wines with the Blaufränkisch Mariental 1986. And now the new 2020 vintage follows seamlessly in its footsteps - 98 Falstaff points for the 2019 vintage and the best red wine of the year - that's as good as it gets. This is a wine with cult status!

The Mariental is a top vineyard in Rust, a hillside location facing east with barren, calcareous soils on which grow vines that are up to 70 years old. Lake Neusiedl creates a special microclimate in this area. The morning sun's intensity is doubled thanks to the reflection from the lake. As a result, this extremely expressive, intense Blaufränkisch thrives and flourishes here. The conscious and sensible use of this potential enables unique characterful wines with long ageing potential.
