Description
A long-matured Schilcher from a steep single vineyard, aged in wooden barrels. The Edla vineyard in Western Styria is characterised by slate soils and is surrounded by forest. These conditions, together with its exposed location, form the basis for a mineral, long-lasting Schilcher with cool notes.
The grapes are harvested by hand, fermented spontaneously, aged for six months on full lees and matured in 1500-litre wooden barrels. The wine shows a dark, clear pink colour with orange reflections. On the nose, red berry fruit combines with herbs and ripe currants. On the palate, it is mineral and dry with a cool impression. It has a powerful body, enormous length and acidity. The finish is multi-faceted and salty.
A great Schilcher with very good ageing potential. Not a wine for beginners, but one that invites discovery and then captivates every wine lover.
