Description
The history of this winery and especially of the Clos Marey-Monge location is a very special and, above all, interesting. It's only in the last few years that the location has been allowed to be named again and labeled as a monopoly. Oenologist Emmanuel Sala cultivates the vineyards strictly according to biodynamic principles and is convinced that only nature can make wine. Biodynamics in Burgundy is still a rarity, but it delivers exceptionally fascinating wines, as you can see from this Pinot Noir.
The 2015 vintage is quite dark and dense in the glass, very concentrated on the nose and almost sensual in terms of the aroma. There is a clean and wonderful bouquet of red berries, lots of cherries and wonderfully integrated wood aromas. It's a really powerful wine on the palate, but in terms of the multi-layered aromas. However, a lot of cherries and strawberries dominate here, plus leather and tobacco. Spicy notes join in, the wine "presses" properly, but always remains typically Burgundy; very elegant. A long and powerful finish - this is really a world-class wine.
It's still very young. Please decant a few hours beforehand so that the enjoyment is not impaired by too little air.
