Auron, the bull, adorns the label of this powerful, multifaceted wine with his golden Kapperl. He symbolises the wine and bears Josef Scharl’s trademark, the Kapperl, on his head. A true flagship and figurehead of the winery.

The Sauvignon Blanc was harvested by hand from old vines in the steep Schemming vineyard and matured for 18 months in used barriques. The wood gives the wine volume and a typical flavour profile without being overpowering. Quite the opposite. The nose shows yellow fruit, subtle herbs and a gentle hint of wood. On the palate, the wine is juicy and silky, with delicate roasted notes. With air, it gains drive and intensity, then glides elegantly and with balance into the finish, leaving a lemony minerality on the aftertaste. Oh yeah, that is rock ’n’ roll on the tongue.

The wine is ready to drink now and can be stored for another 10 years. It clearly demonstrates how great and multi-layered this variety can become in Styria.
