Kopfensteiner Border 2022, 0,75 l

This powerful red wine cuvée from Southern Burgenland showcases the finesse of Blaufränkisch paired with the international varieties Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The vines are situated in the immediate vicinity of the Hungarian border; at the same time, this wine is intended to serve as a link between tradition and modernity and to break down existing, mental barriers. Hence, the wine bears the name ‘Border ’.

After 20 months’ ageing in new barrique casks, followed by bottle ageing, one can already sense this wine’s great potential. Still young and fresh on the palate. The first impression in the glass is dark and powerful. Preserved blueberries with a hint of rum-soaked fruit spring to mind. Firm tannins meet fiery alcohol in the warm, plump finish.

It can easily be laid down for a further 12–15 years, but will already delight die-hard red wine fans – whether enjoyed on its own or paired with game or beef.
