Description
A shooting star and one of the bestsellers from the winemaker of the year! With excellent ratings by Falstaff and James Suckling every year, it is now one of the classics among Austrian white wines.
The "Obere Steigen" vineyard has a sandy-loamy topsoil with limestone conglomerate in the subsoil which you can taste in the glass. You can also discern the top quality of the 25 - 50-year-old vines. Only a selection of the best grapes makes it into each bottle. The colour of the still young 2020 vintage is a medium yellow-green. On the nose, it has a fine, characteristic Veltliner flavour with white pepper and apple. Very juicy and fresh on the palate, with an intense interplay of fruit and acidity. Dominated by the minerality of the limestone soil. The long finish ends with beautiful notes of fruity pear.
A sophisticated companion with a variety of dishes. A great wine for every occasion.
