Description
Sometimes a great champagne doesn’t need to make a big splash. This vintage demonstrates its class in a wonderfully understated and elegant way – and that is precisely what makes it so special.
In the glass, it glows a pale golden-yellow with fresh green highlights. On the nose, you’ll find notes of toasted bread, hazelnut and grain, before softer notes of marzipan, gingerbread and ripe yellow fruits emerge. On the palate, the champagne is initially round and supple, but then develops increasing complexity. In the long finish, clementine and pomelo provide a delicate, juicy freshness.
The 2016 vintage presented the Champagne region with major challenges due to heavy rainfall and an unusually dry summer. After at least six years of ageing, this resulted in the 77th vintage Champagne in the history of Moët & Chandon. Chardonnay forms the heart of the cuvée, complemented by Pinot Noir and Meunier.
It pairs particularly well with pan-fried or gently cooked fish, veal, scallops or dishes featuring fennel and citrus fruits. Thanks to its elegant gift box, it also makes a truly lovely present for weddings, anniversaries and other special occasions.
