Muralia Babone DOC Maremma Toscana Rosso 2020

We are always impressed by the juicy, easy-drinking yet powerful red wines from Tuscany. Rarely do you get more value for your money than in the Maremma. This cuvée of Syrah and Sangiovese is a vibrant Bordeaux red in the glass, practically begging to be enjoyed.

The 2020 vintage is still a bit young and benefits from some air in the glass. Initially restrained, it opens up beautifully with time.

The nose is rich with dark fruit, red berries, sour cherries, and subtle herbal notes. The oak influence is barely noticeable, remaining in the background. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and extraordinarily juicy, with abundant red fruit flavours. It is dense but not overpowering, with round, ripe tannins and fresh acidity. There is a hint of leather and a delightful liquorice note on the finish.

This wine pairs particularly well with Tuscan cuisine, especially meat dishes, but also complements vegetables such as courgettes and aubergines.
