Pala CANNONAU DOC Riserva 2022, 0,75 L

Cannonau is one of the oldest and culturally most important grape varieties in Sardinia, with a history dating back to around 1200 BC. Known as Grenache in other regions, the variety shows a particularly warm, spicy and complex character on the island. The grapes for this Riserva come from a single vineyard with vines around 45 years old, an origin that is clearly reflected in the depth and concentration of the wine.

Visually, the wine presents itself in a dense, almost opaque Bordeaux red. The nose reveals powerful, spicy aromas supported by red berry notes, a hint of floral nuances, some leather and a fine touch of vanilla. On the palate, the wine is fleshy and intense, shaped by blackberry, dark forest fruits and a firm texture. The ripe tannins provide structure, while lively acidity adds freshness and tension. Subtle balsamic tones and a slight hint of liquorice complete the overall impression.

The finish is long, spicy and marked by red berries. This Riserva shows impressively why Cannonau holds such an important place in Sardinia, powerful, full of character and still pleasantly balanced. It pairs especially well with red meat, spicy grilled dishes or a slightly chilled summer barbecue.
