Description

This is the true taste of Eisenberg located in southern Burgenland, Austria. The Szapary vineyard, with its ferruginous clay and loam soils interspersed with blue slate, imparts a unique terroir. The 25- to 60-year-old vines are deeply rooted, faithfully translating the essence of the soil into the bottle, following organic principles.

Aged for 42 months in large oak barrels and bottled without fining or filtration, this red wine is approachable now but has the potential to evolve beautifully over the next 10–15 years. It exemplifies Blaufränkisch at its best, with finely spiced notes, ripe cherries and blackberries, and a hint of orange zest. Full of finesse and elegance, each sip flows across the palate with a distinctive salty minerality, leaving a lasting and refined finish.

This is what pure slate tastes like! Ideal with dark meats or savoured on its own for life’s special moments.
