Description
The Furmint is a white grape varietal that was widespread throughout the Austrian monarchy 100 years ago. Today, this elegant rarity can be found in Austria almost exclusively in Rust. The Triebaumer family has been growing this variety on the Geyerumriss vineyard in Rust for 30 years.
In contrast to the classic Furmint, this single-vineyard wine is in strictly limited quantities, hand-selected and partly matured in 300-litre wooden barrels. After long contact on the fine lees, this dry white wine is still very young but is beginning to show its true potential.
Very complex and powerful on the palate. Ripe, yellow pears, quinces and meadow flowers come to mind. Carried by yellow fruit with a pleasant acidity. Delicately mineral. Deep, elegant finish with a slightly salty aftertaste.
A beautiful, exotic wine with great ageing potential. Pairs well with fish, grilled cheese and salads.
