Weingut Kerschbaum Blaufränkisch Ried Hochäcker 2023, 0,75 L

The Hochäcker vineyard is one of the finest sites in Horitschon and the largest vineyard of the Kerschbaum winery. Blaufränkisch thrives on the heavy, loamy soils with high iron content and clearly reflects the terroir of this area.

The wine is matured in used wooden barrels to highlight the character of the grape variety. This results in a classic expression of Horitschon:

Dry, with precise fruit flavours of dark cherries and blackberries, complemented by subtle spicy notes and a hint of black pepper. Mineral nuances and a harmonious balance give the wine depth and expression without overwhelming it. The long, fruity finish is marked by delicate spice.

An excellent match for beef, game, or hearty pasta dishes. The wine will reach its full potential over the next 2 to 4 years. When young, it is best opened or decanted 1 to 2 hours in advance.
