Kollwentz Ried Gloria Chardonnay 2023, 0,75 L

One of the best, if not the best, Chardonnays in Austria! GLORIA consistently leads the way in the country every year and is universally praised by national and international critics. The new 2023 vintage was honoured with 99 points and named Austria's "Wine of the Year" by international wine critic James Suckling, cementing its status as the nation's top wine.

The south-easterly Gloria site was first documented back in 1570 and is framed by the Leithagebirge forest. It is perfectly suited for Chardonnay vines, which thrive there on the extremely chalky brown earth. Aged and matured in small French oak barrels, the wine, while still very young, is already very drinkable.

Every sip is intense and immensely multi-layered. Much like in Burgundy, the grape variety recedes here, allowing the terroir of this unique site to take centre stage. Expect notes of yeast, brioche, delicate, fine-boned oak, and ripe yellow fruit. Pure minerality, finely structured and balanced right through to the superbly long finish, making it a spectacular experience for the palate. It has a huge ageing potential of 20 years or more.
