Weingut Kopfensteiner Border 2019

This powerful red wine cuvee from southern Burgenland exhibits the finesse of Blaufränkisch paired with the international varietals Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes were harvested from vines located near Austri'as border with Hungary and this wine is intended to be a link between tradition and modernity, and breaking down barriers. Hence the name Border.

After 20 months of ageing in new barrique barrels and subsequent bottle ageing, you can already feel the great potential of this wine. Still young and fresh on the palate. The first impression in the glass is dark and powerful. Preserved blueberries with a hint of rum come to mind. Taut tannins meet fiery alcohol on the warm finish.

It is sure to delight wine lovers already now but it can be easily aged for another 12 - 15 years. Fantastic on its own as well as when paired with game or beef.
