Description
One of the bestsellers from the winemaker of the year and a rising star. Awarded high scores every year by Falstaff and James Suckling, it is now considered a classic of the Austrian white wine scene.
The "Obere Steigen" site features sandy loam topsoil with limestone conglomerate in the subsoil, which is reflected in the glass along with the character of the 25 to 50-year-old vines. Only a selection of the finest Grüner Veltliner grapes is bottled. The colour of the still young 2024 vintage is medium yellow-green. The nose shows a fine, typical Veltliner aroma with notes of white pepper and apple. Very juicy and fresh on the palate, with an intense interplay of fruit and acidity. Shaped by the minerality of the limestone soil, the long finish concludes with elegant pear notes.
