For us, Nerello Mascalese is one of the most exciting red grape varieties in Sicily. Not because it is bold, but because it offers so much charm, freshness and drinkability. This red wine shows exactly that, with red plum, cherry, a touch of violet, along with herbs and a fine spiciness.

On the palate, the wine is juicy, lively and pleasantly grippy. It is not a heavy, jammy red, but a Sicilian with tension. The fruit remains red and fresh, the tannins provide structure, and there is a fine tart note on the finish that pairs very well with food.

The wine is fermented in steel and then given time in wood, which adds a little more depth without losing its lightness. For us, it is an excellent red wine with pasta and sugo, pizza with salsiccia, lamb chops, grilled vegetables or spicy hard cheese. Serve slightly chilled.
