The red grape variety "Petit Verdot" is rarely if ever cultivated in Austria. However, the Triebaumers have been planting this mystical variety for research purposes since 1999 and have now bottled a limited, small quantity of pure variety.

Matured in used 300-litre wooden barrels, this red wine shows what the variety is capable of in this country. Dark purple colour with a cherry rim in the glass. Coriander, mint and graphite lead on the nose. Thoughts of game and ink come to mind. Dark chocolate flavour with robust, gripping tannins, the likes of which are rarely seen. You'll want to savour it a few times.

A wine that is still rare; however, with climate change, it may become more common.
