Johanneshof Reinisch Zierfandler Gumpoldskirchen DAC 2024 Bio, 0,75 L

Zierfandler is an indigenous white grape variety found exclusively in the Thermenregion, just south of Vienna. Wines from such native grapes are rightly enjoying a well-deserved resurgence in popularity.

This particular Zierfandler belongs to the local wine category. The grapes are sourced from the Anninger vineyard in the village of Gumpoldskirchen. Harvested by hand, the organically grown wine was then aged for around four months in 700-litre wooden barrels.

Pale green with a silvery shimmer, it opens on the nose with fine, elegant spice and a hint of tobacco, complemented by yellow stone fruit and a subtle mineral note. On the palate, the wine is taut and precise, yet beautifully balanced. Flavours of white stone fruit and a touch of mandarin zest bring freshness and vibrancy, while the delicate peppery spice and lively acidity add a sense of tension and excitement.

A graceful wine with character and lightness, a true pleasure to drink.
