Description
97 Falstaff points are almost the rule rather than the exception for the iconic Cuvée Impresario. This red wine from Central Burgenland has been among the best in its category for many years, and rightly so in our opinion.
The 2022 vintage consists of 60% Blaufränkisch, 20% Zweigelt, 15% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon from the best vineyards in Horitschon. It was matured for around 18 months exclusively in new French barrique barrels, making it one of the winery’s flagship wines.
Powerful, complex and elegant, with excellent ageing potential. The nose is multi-layered, showing dark berries, cherries, cassis and fine wood notes. Extra dry on the palate, still youthful and concentrated. The tannins are present and ripe, with plenty of structure and a cool freshness. The finish is very long and leaves a mineral impression.
Not a wine for casual drinking, the Impresario demands full attention and rewards it.
