Kollwentz Eichkogel 2022, 0,75 L

The Eichkogel is a famous Red Wine Cuvée from the top winery Kollwentz on the Leithagebirge in Burgenland. It is composed of the local grape varieties Blaufränkisch (from the Point and Setz vineyards) and Zweigelt (from the Neusatz vineyard).

Only the best grapes are hand-picked, gently pressed after three to four weeks on the mash, and then matured for 24 months in small French oak barrels. The result is a powerful yet elegant red wine with excellent ageing potential.

Fully ripe, dark, spicy berry fruit comes from the Blaufränkisch, while the Zweigelt contributes juiciness and silkiness. It is powerful and long on the palate, with robust tannins. Still youthful, it displays a beautiful roasted aroma from the oak barrels. A perfect, lasting drinking pleasure that brings immense joy.

While still young, it should be decanted one to two hours before drinking. This allows the bouquet and the entire range of aromas to unfold even better.
