Description

The new 2022 vintage marks 35 years of the Opus Eximium, the benchmark wine at Albert Gesellmann. This popular red wine cuvée is a fixed star in the red wine sky and consists of Blaufränkisch, Zweigelt and a little St. Laurent. Matured for 18 months in small used barriques and then aged for a further 3 months in large wooden barrels after blending. Now it is ready to show off its full potential in the glass.

The delicately smoky, spicy flavour of ripe blackberries and a fine touch of nougat on the nose. On the palate you get what the nose promises: juicy, ripe cherries with fine tannins and fresh wild berries. Lingers beautifully on the finish and makes you want more. A true red wine classic from Austria red wine classic that pairs particularly well with beef, steaks and hearty braised meat. But it is also the perfect wine to raise a toast on a special occasion.

This fine wine can be aged for another 10 years or more - but who wants to wait that long?
