Description
V-Max Blaufränkisch 2018 – from the “best red wine producer in Austria” – you can’t get any closer to the essence of Blaufränkisch than this. With 96 AlaCarte points and 95 Falstaff points, the 2018 vintage ranks among the very best of its kind in the country.
The grapes were carefully hand-harvested in the Hochberg vineyard in the old wine mountains. After fermentation, the wine matured for 40 months in new French barriques, gaining depth and refinement. Now entering its ideal drinking window, it also offers an ageing potential of at least 15 years.
The V-Max is Blaufränkisch at its maximum: perfect enjoyment, unmistakably Central Burgenland. In the glass, it shines with dark ruby garnet and violet reflections. On the nose, aromas of wild berry confit, Amarena cherry, fine wood spice, and balsamic hints unfold. On the palate, it is dry, juicy, and complex, every sip gliding down elegantly yet powerfully, carried by ripe, gripping tannins. Notes of fine tobacco spice and cassis lead into a long, chocolaty finish.
