Description
97 Falstaff points are almost the rule rather than the exception for the iconic Cuvée Impresario. This red wine from Central Burgenland has been one of the best in its category for many years and, in our opinion, rightly so.
The 2022 consists of 60% Blaufränkisch, 20% Zweigelt, 15% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon from the best vineyards in Horitschon. Matured for around 18 months exclusively in new French barrique barrels, this wine is one of the house’s flagship wines.
Powerful, complex and elegant, with great ageing potential. A multi-layered nose of dark berries, cherries, cassis and fine wood. Extra dry on the palate, still youthful and concentrated. Present, ripe tannins with plenty of structure and a cool freshness. It lingers for a very long time and leaves a mineral touch.
Not a wine for casual drinking, the Impresario demands your full attention. That is a good thing.
