This St. Laurent 2016 vintage was crowned the Falstaff winner in 2016, which is truly remarkable for this grape variety. The balanced, new 2020 vintage also proves that the best red wines from Carnuntum come from the top Altenberg vineyard, among others.
After 14 months in barriques (20% new), this dry red wine is still young, but is already beginning to showing its full potential. A wine that is perfect for ageing with power, juice, intense fruit and great structure. Ripe plums and preserved cherries with delicate nougat on the palate. Extractively sweet and elegant, every sip lingers long on the finish. A magnificent example of a St. Laurent!
Pairs well with game, hearty dishes and soft and hard cheeses.
